Aaron Sorkins Cinemax Series Will get New Title: Newsroom

Aaron Sorkin’s approaching Cinemax drama series, referred to as More Because This Story Evolves, has become the official title: Newsroom. Based on the show’s Cinemax site, Newsroom is placed behind the curtain of the show at afictionalcable news funnel UBS and it is based loosely on Countdown with Kieth Olberman although it was on MSNBC. (Sorkin stayed shadowing Olberman while researching his new series.) Cinemax provides 2 clips of dialogue in the project, which stars Shaun Daniels as UBS primetime host Will McCallister and Law & Order‘s Mike Waterston as UBSNewsPresident Charlie Skinner. In one scene, a gifted youthful producer which was introduced to UBS from CNN knows that his job might not be as secure because he think it is. Okay, Im calling Jim Walton and pleading for any job. Here's an exchange between Will and Charlie from another scene. Will: Charlie, I cant pursue Halliburton and miss. Charlie: Oh report the goddam news, Will. Will: You remember a man named Serta Rather? Charlie: Serta first got it right. Will: Hes no more on tv. Free Airline Wing creator Sorkin, an Oscar champion for his Social Networking script, executive produces Newsroom with Scott Rudin.
